Personal experience with this scanner - Review

I have been using the same Wasp WWS100i pocket barcode scanner for 4 years now. Wasps feature list and specifications have proven spot on.

Platforms I use the scanner with - iMac, iPhone, & iPad.

Rugged - I am not nice to my equipment, and this little scanner has survived everything I have thrown at it. From years of abuse to include traveling around in my pocket with my car keys, dropping the scanner on the cement more times that I can admit, to traveling all the way through the wash cycle only to come out of the other side, dry and 100% fully functional.

Battery life - I am completely amazed at how good the battery is on this scanner. I feel like I have not charged it in years, but that can't be the case. I will say that this scanner keeps a charge for a very long time which was one of my major concerns.

Customer support - I have had very little need to contact customer support, but the one time I did, they were awesome, and I am pretty sure they helped me with something that related to the media scouting program I was using at the time, and not even directly related to the scanner itself.

Pricing - I purchased my WWS100i on eBay for around $150.00, and it paid for itself within a few weeks. I just checked the MFG website, and they are being sold around $190.00 so you can get a discount on eBay, and you may be able to find it even cheaper used.

Issues with this scanner - Review

In terms of the funcationality of this device, it has performed amazingly in all areas I need it to. The only problem I have with the pocket scanners size. I have almost lost it so many times that I am amazed that I still have it. If you are good at keeping track of items, this is a a great scanner that you will have to regrets purchasing.

That's all for this article.  Don't forget to check out all off my articles that tell you what sells on eBay.

How to start selling on ebay for beginners

How to start selling on ebay for beginners

armed to sell bomb suit logo

So you have decided that you want to start making some extra cash for whatever reason, and you have chosen eBay as the place you want to start making money, but you don't know where to begin.

I am going to layout this article as simply as possible.   There will not be any frilly pictures, just links to the places you will need to go to get your basics setup.  Follow my list and setup, and prepared to go on to learning the best way to sell profitable products online.   You may have already started some of these steps, if so, feel free to skip ahead.  Unfortunately there are no anchors on blogger so you will have to just scroll down.

  1. Setup an ebay account
  2. Setup a paypal account
These two accounts are the minimum accounts needed to start selling on eBay.

The next thing you are going to need are supplies and hardware.  Some of these things you may already have, and other you may need to purchase.  I will provide links to recommended products as we go through this.  Any products I recommend are recommended because they are actually useful to the internal processes of running an eBay business.

Let's go over the basics of what you will need.
  1. Computer - Preferably a modern computer with at least Windows 7 on in it.

computer for ebay

  1. Smartphone -  A smartphone is one of the most important tools to have when sourcing product to sell on ebay.  Technically if you have a smartphone, you don't really even need a computer.  You can list directly from your phone while you are at the store.    I have another article on scanning software as well as a great scanner.

  1. Printer -  Thermal printers are the best, laserjets would be the second best, and at the bottom of the list would be the ink jets due to the cost of ink.  That stuff is worth more than gold.

  2. Shipping scale - Depending on what you are shipping you may need two scales.  One for lighter objects and one for heavier ones because the heavy ones don't read light objects accurately. Here are a few recommended models to consider.

  3. Shipping tape - Buying shipping tape anywhere other than eBay is going to cost you an arm and a leg.  It isn't the greatest tape in the world, but it gets the job done, and I have not had any issues
  4. Boxes - Boxes can be purchased on ebay as well, but it is much easier to head over to your local dollar store.  They will have all the boxes you need and will be more than happy to give them to you.
  5. Filler - Packing paper, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts are all types of acceptable forms of fill.  I wouldn't recommend skimping on the filler because these things keep your items safe.  I personally purchase all of my
  6. Box cutter -  There is nothing better than a nice sharp box cutter to cut cardboard for those special cardboard configurations.   I have had to use this many times for lamps, and mirrors.
  7. Shrink wrap - This is a personal preference, I like to wrap my products nice and tight.  I usually purchase my shrink wrap at home depot, but it may be cheaper on eBay.
  8. Shelving -  New shelving can run between $40-$90 depending on the quality, but you can probably find shelving cheaper on craigslist.
  9. +++++++Optional products that I would recommend+++++
  10. Tape gun - I personally love using a tape gun for packaging.  Mother picker prefers to just cut directly off the roll of tape which seems much slower to me.

  11. Cardboard reducing tool -  This tool is great for resizing boxes when you just don't have the right box.

So you have your ebay account, and all of your equipment.  Now what?

This is the part where you have to decide what you want to make money on.  If you already know what you want to sell on ebay that is awesome, you are already ahead of the game.  If you have absolutely NO idea what you want to sell there are a few options we can go over here.

  1. Start out by selling thing that you already own.  This will keep you from having to spend money to make money, it will teach you how to use the ebay completed listing system, and might help you come across some other things you might realize are worth money.   Did you know that most households have over $30,000.00 worth of clutter in their homes?  Selling your own stuff first is a great way to start.
  2. Check out my eBay bolo list where I share items that can bring huge profits, and you can find them relatively cheap at garage sales, thrift stores, and flea markets.
  3. Check out my article on finding free stuff to sell dumpster diving.
  4. Check out this video where I show off some vintage kitchen products that sell pretty well and I have an entire what to sell on ebay playlist which will be dedicated to items that you should look for to sell on ebay.

So now you have all of your equipment setup, you have some stuff to list, now it is time to start listing your products on ebay.

Writing about how to list on ebay is an entire post in itself so I am not going to get into listing, but I will leave my ebay Cassini search engine optimization video that will give you some good recommendations on selling overall.

Thats all for this article, I will continue this in my next article where I will talk about how to find new products through research, shipping methods and options to ensure your products arrive safely, and customer service.

I hope this article has been helpful.  If it has, please leave a comment, and follow my youtube channel.

eBay seller limits - What you need to know.

You may have limits placed on your account or on particular categories and items until you confirm certain information or establish a positive selling history. These limits help you become a more successful seller, in addition to ensuring a safer experience for all eBay members.
We have 3 types of limits:
  • Account limits
  • Category limits
  • Item limits
Other limits may apply to your account, and selling limits also apply if you have an eBay Store.Selling limits are considered separately from the number of free insertion fees for auction-style listings available per calendar month.
Keep in mind that registering new accounts or buying and selling with other existing accounts to avoid buying and selling limits or other policy consequences is a violation of our policies. Learn more about our policy forusing multiple accounts.

Account limits

Account limits allow us to review account activity and confirm certain information with you. Account limits vary by seller and we may raise them based on your overall selling activity.
Account limits don't apply to the following listing categories:
  • Business & Industrial
  • Motor Vehicles (except for Parts & Accessories)
  • Real Estate

How overall account limits work
You have a limit on sold items, gross merchandise volume, and active items for sale. If an item sells, it counts toward the limit, but if a listing ends without any sold items, it no longer counts toward the limit.
You may be able to request a higher account limit by confirming your information, linking your new account to an established account, or contacting us. When you reach a selling limit, we give you the option to request an increase to the amount you can list. We may also evaluate your selling activity on a monthly basis and grant a new limit on your account if you qualify.
Important: If you exceed the maximum amount you can list in a month, reduce the number of active listings you have on eBay to bring the number within your limit. We may end any listings that place you over your current limit. Good 'Til Cancelled listings count toward your selling limits, and won't renew automatically if you've reached the maximum amount that you can list.
To learn more about opportunities to examine your selling practices and focus on improving performance, review our seller performance standards.
How to find your limits
You can see most of your account limits in My eBay and in Seller Hub. ClickMy eBay at the top of most eBay pages, sign in to your account, then select the All Selling option in the Sell section on the left side of the page (or in the Selling Manager Summary). In Seller Hub, you can see your account limits in the Overview section.
The Monthly selling limits section shows your current selling activity relative to your monthly limits. You see a red alert when you've reached a limit, letting you know you won't be able to sell more items in the current month. You always have the option to request higher selling limits.
Limits placed on an account for failing to meet the minimum performance standards are shown in your Seller Dashboard. This information only appears if your account is below standard. You see your category and item limits when you list using the Sell Your Item form.

Category limits

How limits on certain categories work
For some sellers, we limit the number of items that can be listed in a calendar month in some categories. These limits may apply to your account if:
  • It's been less than 90 days since your first successful sale as an eBay seller.
  • You haven't sold multiple items in this category before
  • You haven't sold in this category in over a year
  • eBay Money Back Guarantee requests or PayPal Purchase Protection cases have been opened for more than 3% of your total transactions in the last year
You need to establish a positive selling history in the category you're listing in and show that you're able to meet the needs of your customers before you are permitted to list higher quantities. We may also require you to confirm your personal information.
Starting out small also gives you a chance to become familiar with eBay and to make sure you're following our selling practices policy.
Once you've been a seller for more than 90 days, confirmed your personal information, have sold multiple items in the category you want to list in, and have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service and following our rules and policies, these specific category limits will be removed. Other limits may still apply. Since these specific category limits are automatically removed, you don't need to do anything else.
When you reach the selling limit for an item with limits, you get a message explaining that you need to wait a calendar month to list that item.
There are limits on the number of items you can list in some categories:
  • Books > Textbooks, Education
  • Cameras & Photo > Camcorders
  • Cameras & Photo > Camera & Photo Accessories

Important: Listing items in the wrong category in an attempt to circumvent your selling limits is a violation of our search and browse manipulation policy.
Make sure your listing follows these guidelines. If it doesn't, it may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.

Item limits

For a safer buying and selling experience on eBay, some items may be subject to additional restrictions. For example, we don't allow you to list counterfeit items, fakes, replicas, or unauthorized copies. Such items may infringe on someone's copyright or trademark and are harmful to legitimate sellers, buyers, and eBay.
Some item limits are lifted once you establish a good selling history, but other types of limits always remain in place. If you have good detailed seller ratings and are confident in the authenticity and origin of your items, you may be eligible to have the selling limit increased.
Note: These are item limits, as opposed to account limits or category limits.

Increasing your limits

When you list an item, you may see a message letting you know that you have met, or are close to, one of your monthly account limits. If you don't want to wait until the next month to continue listing, click the link in the message torequest higher selling limits. You may also find this link in My eBay > All Selling in the Monthly selling limits section or in Seller Hub > Overview.
From time to time, we may ask you to verify contact information, business practices, or other information before you're allowed to list more items.
We may send you an email with more information on what you need to do next. You can find the email in the Messages section of My eBay or Seller Hub. Once we verify your information, we review your account to see if we can allow you to list more items.
If you already have an established seller account
You may be able to raise the limits on your account if you have another, more established seller account on eBay. Your other account needs to meet all of these conditions:
  1. It's been 90 days since you received your first Feedback for a successful sale.
  2. You don't have any unresolved eBay Money Back Guarantee requests or PayPal Purchase Protection cases.
  3. Your detailed seller ratings are at least 4.8 in all areas.
If your account meets all of these conditions, follow the instructions on theRequest higher selling limits page to confirm that you already have an established seller account.
If you have a history of selling authentic items
If you've been a seller for at least 90 days with good detailed seller ratings, and are confident in the authenticity and origin of your items, you may be eligible to have your selling limit increased. We consider the following when we determine whether to change your selling limits:
  • Positive buyer Feedback
  • No unresolved eBay Money Back Guarantee requests or PayPal Purchase Protection cases with buyers
  • Selling history (minimum 3 months) and activity as a seller on the site
  • Absence of Feedback questioning the authenticity of the item(s)
  • History of following eBay policies
  • General good standing of your account
If your account meets the above criteria, contact us.
If you don't qualify to have your limits increased, check back in 30 days. You may be able to list more of certain items in certain categories at that time. These selling limits only apply to certain categories or types of items, so you can usually continue listing other types of items as long as they also follow our policies. Find out more about our rules for sellers.
